We really enjoyed all aspects of the hypnobirthing course. We were a little sceptical at first, but by the end of the course felt much more confident and in control. I didn’t realise how little I knew before embarking on the course. The information given with particular reference to how the body behaves, reacts and resolves different stages during labour was fascinating and enlightening. It was also really good for my husband who not only learnt what to expect, but ways in which he could be helpful and supportive. This was invaluable for both of us and made the whole experience feel even more special. Initially I found some of the breathing and relaxation techniques difficult, but with practice they became natural and I find that I still use them now if I feel stressed or tired. Sacha was a fantastic teacher. She was thoughtful and helpful and adjusted the course to suit my needs as a narcoleptic sufferer. The hypnobirthing classes were by far the most informative and useful antenatal classes that we attended and I would highly recommend them.

Ian and I are the incredibly proud parents of our gorgeous daughter Autumn Elizabeth. She was born at 4:34pm on Tuesday, 25th February weighing 9lb and absolutely beautiful. It was an unbelievably emotional roller coaster ride involving Cossham – Southmead – home – Cossham – Southmead and Autumn arriving by forceps in theatre due to shoulder dystocia poor little angel. She was back to back which caused the labour to be so long too and at 5cm I was sent from cossham to southmead due to my waters having broken over 24 hours before and things stalling due to her position. Southmead decided on syntocinon to help progress things due to the time pressure and then I got to the point of almost birthing Autumn but suddenly it was clear she wasn’t able to come the last little bit due to her shoulders and was suddenly distressed so within seconds there was lots of people in the room and we were told it’d be a trial by forceps as they felt it’d be too tricky and secondly (and more likely) a C-section. Thankfully she came without the C-section and is healthy and happy and safely with us. I’ve never had so many compliments from so many – I did every bit without any pain relief whatsoever and remained calm throughout. All I used was our hypnobirthing practice and breathing – even to avoid panicking when we got rushed to theatre. All in all whilst it wasn’t at all what we had hoped for Autumns arrival in to the world, we have so much to be grateful for and we both feel incredibly strongly that without all that you taught us through hypnobirthing it would have been so much tougher. Hypnobirthing gave us so much to help keep us calm and focused throughout. So I just wanted to send you a HUGE thank you from Ian, Autumn and I 🙂

Sacha was absolutely fantastic when teaching my partner and I HypnoBirthing. My mind set changed from being terrified, apprehensive and beyond worried about labour to excitement, a sense of control, feeling confident and relaxed. During labour my midwife had to double check that I was fully dilated as she was so surprised I had dealt with a long labour so well. Giving birth to Arthur was absolutely amazing and if I am lucky enough to have another baby I will without doubt be calling on Sacha for a refresher course.

After doing a bit of research and contacting Sacha for a taster session, we decided that HypnoBirthing was definitely the route we wanted to follow. We went on to enjoy every hypnobirth session with Sacha who we found to have a genuine passion in helping us to get the birthing experience we wanted. The sessions were interactive, fun and became one of the highlights of our week…we were really sad when they ended! Sacha and the course content gave us the confidence to put our trust in mother nature and think differently about how we would bring our baby into the world. By the end of the course we decided we didn’t want the hustle and bustle of a main hospital and opted to deliver at the new midwife led unit at Cossham which offered a home like environment with minimal medical intervention, a total U-turn on our previous choice! When I went into labour my contractions became extremely intense fairly quickly and were managed purely by breathing alone and adopting the techniques that Sacha had taught us. Both of us had a role to play and supported each other through the process. The whole birthing experience was amazing and I would do it all again tomorrow, we delivered a beautiful baby girl in a birthing pool with just 2 paracetamol as pain relief; it was just as we had watched on the videos during our course. We cannot thank Sacha enough for giving us the confidence to have the birth that we hoped for.
