Ian and I are the incredibly proud parents of our gorgeous daughter Autumn Elizabeth. She was born at 4:34pm on Tuesday, 25th February weighing 9lb and absolutely beautiful. It was an unbelievably emotional roller coaster ride involving Cossham – Southmead – home – Cossham – Southmead and Autumn arriving by forceps in theatre due to shoulder dystocia poor little angel. She was back to back which caused the labour to be so long too and at 5cm I was sent from cossham to southmead due to my waters having broken over 24 hours before and things stalling due to her position. Southmead decided on syntocinon to help progress things due to the time pressure and then I got to the point of almost birthing Autumn but suddenly it was clear she wasn’t able to come the last little bit due to her shoulders and was suddenly distressed so within seconds there was lots of people in the room and we were told it’d be a trial by forceps as they felt it’d be too tricky and secondly (and more likely) a C-section. Thankfully she came without the C-section and is healthy and happy and safely with us. I’ve never had so many compliments from so many – I did every bit without any pain relief whatsoever and remained calm throughout. All I used was our hypnobirthing practice and breathing – even to avoid panicking when we got rushed to theatre. All in all whilst it wasn’t at all what we had hoped for Autumns arrival in to the world, we have so much to be grateful for and we both feel incredibly strongly that without all that you taught us through hypnobirthing it would have been so much tougher. Hypnobirthing gave us so much to help keep us calm and focused throughout. So I just wanted to send you a HUGE thank you from Ian, Autumn and I 🙂
